I was showing homes last week to a client who is looking in the $225,000 and under price range. As I was showing, I could not help but notice that there are a number of homes that are sitting on the market because the “as is” condition of the home does not match the price. Even in the $225,000 range, we are having trouble finding a home that is “Move in Ready”. Move in Ready. What does that even mean?

As an agent that has worked with buyers over the past 7 years, I have learned that “Move in Ready” is subjective; for my more “handy” clients, it simply means that the home is fit, stable, clean and reasonably updated. For most buyers, however, move in ready means…HGTV move in ready. Homes that are both updated with a current and comprehensive Aesthetic feel throughout the home and staged beautifully with magazine quality photographs are what will appeal to this much wider audience of buyers, and believe me, they are willing to pay more for it.
